With the introduction of the LC40LE700UN, Sharp combines its legendary AQUOS LCD panel technology with a newly developed, proprietary Full Array LED backlight system to create picture quality that is second to none. The LC40LE700UN illustrates Sharp's LCD technology leadership while also demonstrating its LED engineering advantages. Sharp's Ultra Brilliant LED system illuminates the TV to extremely high brightness and contrast levels and enables significant environmental benefits such as longer life expectancy, no heavy metals and lower power consumption. At the same time, the new XGen LCD Panel utilizes an ingeniously devised pixel design that permits more light to pass through even while minimizing light leakage, with the result being the deepest black levels that AQUOS has ever achieved. Overall, the LC40LE700UN shows that with Sharp, it's not just LED… it's AQUOS LED.

"Beautiful, Affordable Big Screen-This is a steal!" 2010-01-15
By Joshua M. Tucker
I cant say enough about how great this tv is. The new ultra brilliant color display with LED backlighting is superb and ive never seen a more clear cut, sharp, clear tv before. The color is amazing, the blacks are so deep but the rest of the color so vibrant and clear. The sound quality is great too. I mainly got this tv to watch blue ray movies and play my playstation 3 in HDMI and the picture quality in unmatched. I previously had a 32' Vizio LCD and this tv blows it out of the water. I highly recommend this tv to any gamer or anyone who loves to watch very action packed, graphic movies. This was a steal!

"Great TV for the price." 2010-01-13
By H. Zalonis (So Cal)
My first impression of this TV was that it looked like a very large computer monitor. It isn't a looker that's for sure, but once you get past that it is a very good TV. It had no dead pixels and all of the functions are easy to use and work as advertised. I also have an older Samsung 40" LCD and this one beats it in image quality by a rather large margin. The set did require some tweaking to improve the picture quality, but was acceptable out of the box.

One caveat is that you can't use the analog PC input at the display's native 1920x1080 resolution, it's quite easy to work around with a DVI to HDMI adapter cable. Not many computers use the old VGA ports these days and I bet analog will not be supported at all on TVs in the near future.

"Aquos 40" LED TV (narrowest bezel on a 40" TV)" 2010-01-10
By David Filgas (Thousand Oaks, CA USA)
We purchased this TV for a bedroom where the TV is in an armoir. The bezel on this TV is narrower than on any other 40" TV on the market right now which allowed us to fit the 40" SHARP TV in a space where only 37" TV's from other manufacturers would fit. The picture quality is great with the LED backlighting. The TV is a little slow to turn on when it has been off for a while (about 10 seconds to turn on in the morning). It's a great TV at a much better price than LED TV's from Samsung or Sony.

 "Sharpe Aquos LC40LE700UN HDTV" 2010-01-07
By Widmon Butler (Washington, DC, USA)
After playing around with the set up and add ons to this light weight, energy sipping entertainment center, I am very pleased overall.

Delivery was swift and the packaging excellent. The set is not the most beautiful. As for the picture, it was sharp with little blur; the blacks were deep. The colors require a little adjustment for flesh tones, however, the picture was so good that I have not been pressed as yet to do so. There are workarounds for component video receivers but it would help to own one with HDMI input/output jacks.

I have had two occasions to use the Yahoo widgets for the ethernet connection. It is my understanding that the ethernet connection does not provide general access to the internet. There are just these applets for weather, sports, stock quotes, headlines, etc. [Been waiting for a complete merger of PC/Hi Fi/Internet for more than ten years now; integration should be seamless.] I had to buy a router, cables and a Roku box to stream movies from the net. The PC interface needs work on these HDTVs overall, since HDTV-DVI and PC/VGA-XVGA video have incompatible formats. My PC/HDTV network is incomplete. The PC video is deficient in comparison with the digital sources. Many people may find the unscaled-shrunken PC display adequate. I am not satisfied with the quality of the PC display, using a VGA connector. I may order a pricy video scaler or replace my PC's video card. At $1089.00, this Sharp HDTV has been a satisfying purchase that delivers what was promised although it did not make the Must Buy Lists. Time will tell whether it is durable.

Nice Simple HDTV television.

It is lighter in weight than my previous LCD 40in HDTV.

The Sharp LED HDTV has more external connections than my previous LCD HDTV.

The Sharp LED HDTV turns on and gives a picture quicker than my previous LCD HDTV.

This unit arrived fast considering it came from California.

I am very satisfied with this unit. I was able to get a very good price for this unit through Amazon.
